Talking about the Physical Structure of D001 Macroporous Strong Acid Cation Exchange Resin
2020/11/7
D001 macroporous strongly acidic cation exchange resin is usually divided into two types:gel type and macroporous type.
Gel resin
The polymer skeleton of gel resin has no pores in it when it is dry.It swells when absorbing water, forming very fine pores between the macromolecular chains, commonly known as micro pores. The average pore size of wet resin is 2-4nm(2×10-6-4×10-6mm).
This type of resin is more suitable for adsorbing inorganic ions, with a smaller diameter, generally ranging from 0.3 to 0.6 nm.This type of resin cannot adsorb macromolecular excellent substances,as the latter has a larger size, such as protein molecules with a diameter of 5-20nm,which cannot enter the micro pores of this type of resin.
Macroporous resin
Macroporous resins are made by adding pore forming agents during polymerization reactions, forming a framework of porous sponge like structures with a large number of micropores inside, which are then introduced into exchange groups. It coexists with micro pores and macro pores, and the pore size of the wetting resin can reach 100-500nm.Its size and quantity can be controlled during manufacturing. The surface area of the pore can be increased to over 1000m2/g.This not only provides good contact conditions for ion exchange, shortens the path of ion diffusion, but also increases the activity of many chain links.Through the van der Waal's force between molecules, molecular adsorption is generated, which can adsorb various non ionic substances like activated carbon, expanding its function. Some macroporous resins without exchange functional groups can also adsorb and separate various substances, such as phenols in chemical plant wastewater.
Macroporous resin has many and large pores, large surface area, high activity, fast ion diffusion and ion exchange, which is about ten times faster than gel resin. The function is fast and efficient when used, and the required processing time is shortened.Macroporous resins also have various advantages:resistance to swelling, non fragmentation, oxidation resistance, heat resistance and temperature changes,as well as easy adsorption and exchange of excellent macromolecular substances, resulting in strong pollution resistance.
