1、Resin preservation method
Adsorption resins are usually stored in a wet state at a temperature of 0-40℃.When the storage temperature is below 0℃,clear saturated salt water should be added to the packaging bag to soak the resin. If exposed to the air,the resin may partially dry and lose water. As most adsorption resins are hydrophobic,in order to rehydrate the resin, the partially dehydrated adsorption resin should be fully soaked in methanol or other water-soluble solvents(such as ethanol, acetone). After soaking, rinse with water to replace methanol.
2、Resin pretreatment
In the production process of adsorption resins, industrial grade raw materials are generally used, and the products have not undergone further purification treatment. Therefore, small amounts of monomers, pore forming agents, and other impurities are often left inside the resin,so pre-treatment is necessary before use.
The pre-treatment method for adsorption resin is as follows:
Soak the new resin prepared for column installation in about twice the volume of methanol or other water-soluble solvents(such as ethanol or acetone)for 2 hours, stirring constantly to allow the resin to fully swell.
Column the fully swollen adsorption resin, and pass 5-8 times methanol or other water-soluble solvents(such as ethanol, acetone)through the resin layer at a flow rate of 3-4 times the bed volume per hour until the effluent is diluted with water without mixing.
After alcohol treatment, deionized water is passed through the resin layer at a flow rate of 6-8 times the bed volume per hour, and methanol is replaced before use.
